I13 - INTERIOR SURFACE(S)/ CEILINGS/ WALLS/ FLOORS [156.054-C/156.054-C-1] {C} All interior surfaces, including windows and doors, shall be maintained in good, clean and sanitary condition. Peeling, chipping, flaking, or abraded paint shall be repaired, removed, or covered. Cracked or loose plaster, decayed wood, and other defective surface conditions shall be corrected. {C-1} The owner must comply with federal and state statues and standards and local statutes and standards for the abatement of existing lead base paint and the application of lead base paint.

What is a code enforcement case?

A code enforcement case is opened when a Metro inspector finds a property out of compliance with a local property maintenance ordinance — things like exterior storage, uncut grass, or exterior structural upkeep.

Louisville Metro Codes & Regulations opens and manages the case. No board or hearing is required to open one.

The property owner is notified and given a chance to correct the violation. An inspector re-checks the property; the case closes once the violation is corrected and confirmed.

An open case is not a citation or a fine by itself, and it does not mean a court has found the property owner at fault. It records that a violation was observed and is being tracked to correction.
