Dwelling units shall be served by a three-wire, 120/240 volt, single-phase electrical service having a rating of not less than 60 amperes. {C} Where it is found that the electrical system in a structure constitutes a hazard to the occupants or the structure by reason of inadequate service, improper/inadequate over-current protection, insufficient receptacle and lighting outlets, improper or unsafe wiring or installation, makeshift wiring or improper/inappropriate use of electrical extension cords, deterioration or damage, or for similar reasons, the Code Official shall require the defects to be corrected to eliminate the hazard.

What is a code enforcement case?
A code enforcement case is opened when a Metro inspector finds a property out of compliance with a local property maintenance ordinance — things like exterior storage, uncut grass, or exterior structural upkeep.
Louisville Metro Codes & Regulations opens and manages the case. No board or hearing is required to open one.
The property owner is notified and given a chance to correct the violation. An inspector re-checks the property; the case closes once the violation is corrected and confirmed.
An open case is not a citation or a fine by itself, and it does not mean a court has found the property owner at fault. It records that a violation was observed and is being tracked to correction.
